Mixed techniques and strings on paper. Subject/Description
The artist worked on her notebook in New York in 2001, right after the World Trade Center attacks. Since she couldn’t leave the district, she felt very lonely in her apartment in a foreign city. She concentrated on weaving a carpet into the notebook, where she tells a story of the strange relationship in which she doesn’t let her grandfather leave her room. She creates a work steeped in meaning characterized entirely by a weft of threads and a series of words that end with an interwoven reel of unspoken sentences sewn along the whole length of the pages and slipping into the pocket at the end.
