AtWork Bibliography
A mysterious Bansky-style artist, as Corriere della Sera newspaper called him, Cardeña has turned his picaresque biography and the ambiguity surrounding it into an artistic and performative operation. Born in Balaguer (Spain) in 1979, he lived for a long time as a street mime in Cuba as well as an artist “sans papier” in many European and extra-European countries representing, as a performer, scenes from classical and Renaissance iconography for tourists and ordinary people. Since 2007, he has initiated the “Power Flower” project, an extensive series of colourful and overflowing collages with an eccentric and baroque effect, working on themes such as the sacred, the fantastic, the different cultural identities, and the blending of social structures and natural forms.
