He was born in Poland in 1954 and grew up in a family intimately linked to the press and art world. He follows the courts of Fine Arts in Krakow, from which he is quickly excluded for disagreement with the teaching staff. Truly self-taught, he made his first exhibitions in Krakow and Buffalo in the United States.
In 1980, he drew for many Polish newspapers and then founded the first independent satirical newspaper there. His drawings and his ideas supporting the Solidarnosc movement disturbed the repressive regime in place. He was arrested during the state of siege and only released 3 months later on the promise to leave the country permanently.
He landed in Paris in 1982 and began collaborating with the French press (Liberation, La Croix, Le Point, Playboy, VSD). The year 1986 remains a professional turning point in Wozniak's career. He published his first drawing for Le Canard Enchaîné. The following year, he became a full-fledged employee of the satirical newspaper. He still works there today, and every week, he illustrates the cinema section and political news. Since then, new one-off collaborations have followed with Le Monde, Le Monde Diplomatique, Le Nouvel Observateur, Der Frau, and Courrier International.
He works in parallel with many artists from the world of music, such as Manu Chao, Ramon Lopez or Archie Shepp, with whom he produces clips, record covers, posters and performances of drawings projected live on the big screen during their concerts... Still, in this field, he created nearly a hundred posters for various jazz festivals.
He is also the author of a dozen books published in France and worldwide (Gallimard, Seuil, l'Archipel, Albin Michel).
Wozniak's work as a painter has been regularly exhibited in the four corners of the world for more than 40 years (France, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, Luxembourg, Argentina, Poland, etc.). He notably had the privilege of presenting many of his works during a one-year exhibition at the Miro Foundation, where he benefited from an artistic carte blanche (June 2013 – May 2014).
