Bibliography Jack Rothert Garcia was born in 1987 in Montréal, Canada and is a self taught artist working in Paris and Clichy. He grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. His practice covers a range of mediums from collage to painting to printing, flyers and photography. His work often deals with an unfiltered exploration of self, often alluding to themes of solitude, absurdity, fear, tenderness, self deprecation, and social commentary at large. This is mostly achieved through a combination of text, abstract color work, and appropriated pop imagery. Gestures and words are guttural, instinctual and raw or vulgar, pitted against recognizable tropes that allude to notions of “innocence” or what can be considered “sweet”. In addition to his artist practice, Rothert Garcia has likewise launched Radio Poush, alongside Celeste Girot.
