When “the human” meets "the human”, it is his appearance, his shell that from the first moments COMES FIRST. In other words, while we bring the human being closer to the concepts of “nature/ natural”, our approach to the Other goes through what he shows us and what we believe without asking questions in confidence. For the artist, the work refers precisely to this second skin. The skin they have chosen to present themselves or protect themselves and dresses up the first meeting. Despite all the assets and the immense treasures that “the human” possesses, WHAT COMES FIRST? That’s his appearance! Archival Fund

Julien Bernard lives and works in Paris. A self-taught artist, he recalls his childhood spent in the countryside, in the midst of nature, as the first influence of spontaneous and raw art. His training as a dancer and his photographic work allowed him to explore his attraction to bodies, personality and the sensuality that emanates from them. Explained partly by the strong relationship he maintains with his Franco-Spanish family, Julien Bernard's work constantly questions the human being and his place in society. His paintings, rich in colors and emotion, encourage those who look at them to completely immerse themselves and forget the world around them. The vibrant colors and rich texture of his paintings all reflect the intensity of the characters, so vivid he portrays. With his powerful stroke, his paintings take us from joy to the most profound anguish, from doubt to playfulness, with remarkable ease.
