I want to talk about the first idea for an artist in front of a blank canvas: the sketch. The sketch, also called by the Italians the “pensiero” is the extension of thought, spirit and imagination. On this Moleskine, I wanted to draw the cover without the intention of composition, but with a gestural speed that expresses my “pensiero”, my first instinctive idea. What’s comes first.
