I started my weekly consultations of the colonial archives at the Royal Museum of Central Africa in Tervuren in 2012. At first my mind was busy with the front reading of the photographs. After many thousands of images, faces and bodies were sedimented in my brain as well as in my heart. I was struggling to make drawings out of this limbo. After two years of consultations, one day my eye accidentally changed the viewing angle of the pictures. I started to look for inspiration in all the empty spaces around the faces, bodies, the gap between the legs. I realized that in these spaces there was Life like a rebirth after the trauma. I called this series "The dismantled writing". Archival Fund
