For my collaboration with Moleskine Foundation, I made a preparatory drawing, which is always my first creative step. The structure is drawn in black pen; the coloured dots are annotations of colour placements, and the arrows the direction of sky diffusion. Archival Fund

Robin Obitz lives and works in Marseille. “My work is built on the desire to go beyond the faithful representation of space to bring the viewer into a fantasized place, to lose the notion of reality in order to seek the essence of the subject” said the artist. Successions of planes, tangles of lines and shapes, a game of deviation and contortion of perspective, the paintings of Robin Obitzcher seek the horizon and are like windows, breakthroughs in the reality of our standardized environments. The artist opens spaces, paths to take, worlds to inhabit but also to lose oneself in – the painter willingly plays on the edge of abstraction. A form of cubist lyricism, Robin Obitz’s painting is born from the meeting between the rigour of the composition, of the structured line inspired by architectural drawing, and an exaltation, an ardour of colour that he pushes to the limit of saturation. In these reconstitutions of landscapes that are increasingly unstructured, the natural space gains ground. It thus becomes an artificial paradise, “nature fiction”, and is part of an almost digital imagination. Personal data
