A performance at lettera27 Foundation /AtWork booth at Art Paris 2017 in Grand Palais. Through a series of encounters, face to face, seated at a table, divided only by the notebook, the artist Romina De Novellis wanted to shift the attention from the public concept of selfie to the recovery of the self-portrait idea as an intimate practice of projecting one’s intimacy in an external image. Challenging every narcissistic attitude, too often associated with the contemporary concept of selfie, the artist proposed to all the passers-by and the performance viewers to paste a sticker mirror on a notebook page, look through it and represent what they saw or imagined or what they would like to see in that mirror. The self-portrait as an expression of human vulnerability, that does not allow corrections, that exposes one’s identity making it a gesture, a mark of their own presence. The artist chose the red as a single prevailing colour for the entire duration of the performance and as the sole colour in the notebook. Archival Fund
